The house was renovated on Fixer Upper Welcome Home season 1

Fixer Upper Welcome Home season 1 was rounded off with the stunning transformation of the minty green house. The home was featured in episode 9 and despite Chip and Joanna having their work cut out, they managed to turn the property into a beautifully designed modern home.

Chip and Joanna’s plan involved keeping the original wooden floors and house layout, moving the front door, installing new windows and create a “bold design” while maintaining a cottage feel.

The renovation duo replaced the minty green shingle but kept a similar colour for the finished effect of the home’s exterior.

Looking at the final result of the minty green house, it’s now comprised of a living room, dining room, kitchen, den, primary suite, bedroom, bathroom and a library. Viewers can check out the finished result via the Magnolia website and take a 360 degree tour of the minty green house.

The minty green house gave Joanna scope to be creative

Chip had been waiting 10 years to get his hands on the minty green house and because of this, there wasn’t actually a client working with Chip and Joanna on the home. Usually the duo are given some guidelines or aspects to consider for their client but this time around, Joanna could go to town designing the cottage however she saw fit.

Writing on their Magnolia page, Joanna said that she “…embraced the opportunity to stretch myself with this project“.

Apartment Therapy wrote in 2021 that Joanna’s target audience for this flip was “newlyweds and/or young families” and that she was going for “a hotel getaway vibe“.

Home sweet home no more.

Late last month, “Fixer Upper” couple Chip and Joanna Gaines announced that they were ending their HGTV show. Now comes word that they have sold their beloved farm house, which was featured in nearly every episode of their show.

The Blast reported that the couple handed over the deed for their Waco, Texas, property to another couple, but it is unknown how much the new homeowners paid for the famous TV home.

The 6-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 2,729 sq. ft. home is incredible, but it wasn’t that way when Chip and Joanna bought the home in 2012. It was, naturally, a fixer upper. Before and after images of the home are featured on Joanna’s blog.

The duo spent a year and a half fixing up the once-dilapidated home to their liking.

“We are loving farm life and all the animals that call it their home too. It’s been quite an adventure!” Joanna wrote in 2014 on her blog.

It’s been a year of change for the couple. Aside from the sale of the home and the ending of their reality show (at the peak of its popularity,) the duo was also hit with split rumors by tabloids.

In August, in response to reports of a split, Chip tweeted that that “won’t ever happen.”

In speaking to People magazine, Chip said, “Nothing has come easy. We’ve worked so hard to have this beautiful family and this farm — it really does seem like the American dream you heard about growing up.”

Their children and their business is the top priority, he said.

“Jo and I both made a commitment pretty early on that the two of us are the most important variable,” he said. “If we can figure out how to be right as a couple, then obviously we a have a lot better opportunity to be right for our kids.”

Where Are The Iconic Fixer Upper Homes Now?

Where are the iconic Fixer Upper homes now? One of the hard and fast rules of adulthood is that the shows that once bored you as a child, like cooking shows or home renovation shows, soon become some of your favorite forms of entertainment. And there’s no doubt that one of the best home renovation shows is HGTV’s Fixer Upper, starring the charming husband-and-wife duo, Chip and Joanna Gaines. Though Fixer Upper ended after season 5, the Gaines’ success has been hard-earned. Chip and Joanna Gaines even launched their own network, The Magnolia Network, to film more shows.

But looking back at the classic Fixer Upper episodes, it becomes clear that the show really did have some amazing transformations, though not all of them turned out to be an ideal situation for the homeowners. In fact, many people who appeared on the series haven’t stayed in their homes for long at all — and there’s been plenty of drama that happens after the cameras stop rolling. So, where are the iconic Fixer Upper homes now? And what’s the real reason Fixer Upper homes are so hard to sell? Read on to find out!

Why Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Fixer Upper Houses Are Hard to Sell

Many of the homes featured on Fixer Upper have hit the market since the show aired.

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ remodels are certainly popular with fans, but aren’t the easiest to sell.

A Waco, Texas, realtor tells Insider why that is.

After Chip and Joanna Gaines worked their magic on outdated homes in Waco, Texas, it seemed everyone was talking about moving to the charming southern city.

That dream became even more of a reality when the houses featured on Fixer Upper started going up for sale. I mean, who wouldn’t want to live in producer Michael Matsumoto’s shack-turned-chic abode or the “scary to sensational” property from season 1? Apparently, not as many as we think.

This content is imported from {embed-name}. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Realtor Kristin Clements, who’s heading up the sale for the Chip and Jo-designed “Asian Ranch,” spoke with Insider recently about some of the challenges she faces when selling these properties. Not as a result of its design, obviously, but because of the high price tag. The aforementioned remodel, for example, is listed at $679K when the median in Waco is reportedly closer to $200K.

“I know big cities do that, but Waco’s not there yet,” she told the outlet.

“Fixer Upper” producer Michael Matsumoto’s house from the show, now listed at $400K. HGTV

You may assume that the Fixer Upper association sells itself—and it definitely leads to more visibility, as Kristin says the season 2 home garnered 18,000 online views versus her usual 100. But that doesn’t necessarily equate to physical showings.

“In this case, it’s kind of been different because people are looking at it just because it has a Fixer Upper name on it,” she said. “Not because they can actually afford it.”

Most interested parties likely don’t even live in the area, and are just popping by while in town. Though eventually, she hopes to attract these out-of-state buyers who will likely think the price is a good value. “But that has not happened yet,” she said.

Still, Kristin knows Chip and Joanna’s amazing work has plenty of potential.

“I just think it’s going to take the right buyer who wants to be in Waco and also who can afford a higher price point,” she said.
